My calling as a pastor and as a Christian is to know and proclaim Christ through His Word, to lead His people to live in close fellowship with Him and one another, and to make disciples of Christ in the world. Christ is my hope and my strength. To know Him through His Word is the passion of my life. To make Him known is the goal of my life (1 Peter 2:9). His church is the hope of the world. As His church loves one another and journeys through life together, He is glorified and the world is drawn to Him (John 13:35). The church’s commission is to make disciples (Matt. 28:18-20). It is thrilling to witness a public profession of faith of Christ; it is even more thrilling for me to watch someone become a life-long follower of Jesus Christ. I have been blessed beyond measure with a wonderful wife and family. My wife, Gay, faithfully walks with Christ alongside me. We have served Him together for over 25 years. She is my beloved, and I am hers. Our children, now almost all grown, love the Lord and are dedicated to finding their place in this world in service to God. What a joy it is to see God doing amazing things in and through HAFBC! You are a great church serving a Great God. Whatever He reveals His will to be, may we seek to glorify Him alone.
Gary joined the Staff of Humble Area’s First Baptist in April 2006, coming from LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville. He also served for 17 years as the Administrative Pastor at Champion Forest Baptist here in the Houston area. Gary’s desire is to free Pastor Barry from the day-to-day operations and administrative duties of the church so that he can focus on studying and preaching of God’s Word as well as ministering to His people. In previous churches he served as Administrator, Minister of Education, Evangelism Pastor, and Youth Pastor. Gary has been married to his wife, Joyce, for 44 years. They have three married children: sons, Brad and Steve, both of whom are in ministry; and one daughter, Amy. Gary and Joyce are also blessed with five grandchildren.

The passion of my life is the glory of Christ. I see the glory of Christ most clearly in His commission, His great commission, to make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:18-20), including our own. In Acts 1:8 we see the pattern for making disciples begins right here at home; it certainly extends to the utter most parts of the earth, but it starts here. Disciples of Christ are worshipers of Christ, and that brings Him glory; that is why we make disciples, for His glory. My desire for the adult ministry of HAFBC is to make life-long disciples who make life-long disciples. For the past thirty years it has been the joy of my life to have my wife Rosie serving at my side with a compassionate servant’s heart. We have two adult daughters, one a teacher, the other a student. May God be glorified as we serve King Jesus together!
David and his wife, Danyel, have been members of Humble Area's First Baptist Church for 4 years where he has served in volunteer roles in both Adult and Student Ministries. He is a graduate of Union University and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and has served in a variety of ministry settings teaching God's Word, training leaders, and leading mission trips to three continents. After serving in Student Ministry for 10 years, he and Danyel served as International Mission Board missionaries in Brazil for 2 1/2 years, then as a missionary trainer with Aid Sudan in Houston for the past 4 years. In 2010, God added three precious children, Kaweny, Javre and Jady, to their family by adoption from Brazil. The entire family enjoys music, anything outdoors, and spending time with God's people.
Even as a young girl, I knew my life’s work would be to invest in children in some way. I received a degree from Louisiana Tech University in Elementary Education in 1984 and taught school for 7 years in Baton Rouge. God moved me to Children’s Ministry in July of 1991. My entry into ministry was as the Director of Children’s Ministry for 13 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, FL. God clearly called us to Texas in April of 2004 to serve as Director of Children’s Ministry at HAFBC. My life verse is Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” It has been a joy to see the results of delighting in the Lord along the path he has chosen for me. I have been blessed to serve with wonderful staff and volunteers during these years of ministry. My greatest privilege is to be a part of children coming to know Christ and begin their walk with Him. I have been married to Doug for 14 years and we are blessed with a daughter, Emma Grace.
I feel so blessed that God has allowed me to serve Him as the Director of Preschool Ministries here at HAFBC. I fell in love with the Lord at age 24 and accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. He has given me a love for children and given me the opportunity to work with children as an elementary school teacher, as a home daycare provider, as a Sunday school teacher, Awana leader, VBS Director and as a mom to 2 wonderful sons. In 2003 I was honored that He called me to serve on staff here at HAFBC as the Preschool Director. I absolutely love being able to serve Him, work with children, and work in such a loving Christian environment. God has also blessed me with 23 years of marriage to my wonderful husband Glenn and given us two boys. Matt is now 20 and pursuing a business degree at Sam Houston University. Mark is 17 and a Senior at Summer Creek High School. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, boating, and the outdoors.
