Our goal

To be worshipers and to effectively lead others into the presence of God where they can respond appropriately to His greatness and glory, be intimately touched by his nearness, and be powerfully changed into His likeness.

What is Worship?

Worship is our response - both personal and corporate - to God for Who He is and what He has done, expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.
In John 4, Jesus said that true worshippers will worship Him in spirit and in Truth. Jesus didn't mention singing. Worship is much bigger than that. It is a life lived to the glory of Christ. When we do sing, however, we are expressing from the depths of our souls the overflow of what Christ is doing in us. We sing songs of praise because Christ has saved us and gives us blessings today. We sing songs of reflection to remember the cross and the significance of the Life that He lived. We sing songs of confession because we want to be an honest people before the Lord and be open about our estate.
At HAFBC, we long to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. As we come and worship together, our goal is to be fixed on Jesus...not the style of music we play. Our goal is to sing to Christ...not worry if the song we are singing is a hymn or a chorus. Music is a means to that end...glorifying God! God looks at our hearts, and we desire to be a church whose hearts are totally his, whether we are singing great songs of the faith, praying, standing in silence, or greeting each other in love.
